Dogs and Acroyoga Help This English Teacher Keep Her Stress In Check.

“I think it’s very important to have yoga equipment you like, then I don’t have the excuse not to self-practice.

(Read time approx. 1 min. 30 secs.)

Joyce Wolf is a dog-loving English teacher originally from Rhode Island who has been using her Gecko Touch towel for over a year. As an early childhood educator, Joyce is responsible for meeting extremely high expectations and learning objectives for her students. To manage her stress from the pressure of her job, she makes it a priority to connect with her body during the week. BJJ, dance, acroyoga and dynamic yoga are some of the ways she chooses to spend her time outside of work. She loves a yoga session where she can work hard and sweat. “I choose activities that challenge me as well as ones that I can enjoy,” says Joyce.

As Joyce continues to move forward in her yoga journey, she feels the Gecko Touch towel has allowed her to become more efficient in her practice. “My three favourite features of the Gecko Touch are grip, lightweight and fun,” she says, “I think it looks beautiful too”.

Finding something that offers her stability has certainly helped her postures improve. “I have eczema, so my hands and feet are both dry and slippery. I find doing downward facing dog, warrior as well as a wide-legged forward bend much easier with the towel thanks to its grip” says Joyce. Without having to wipe the sweat off her mat, or hands/feet every few minutes, she feels she’s able to flow and move more freely without unnecessary disruptions during her practice.

Joyce also feels it’s extremely important to have high-quality yoga equipment as its less for her to worry about and helps with her concentration. “I think it’s very important to have yoga equipment you like, then I don’t have the excuse not to self-practice. I look for yoga equipment that inspires me to get more out of my experience. The towel has become an essential accessory to my practice, and I can’t imagine practicing yoga without it now.”

What is your favorite inspirational book?
There are too many books to have a single favorite. My go-to answer is always the Harry Potter series. I grew up with them and loved following Harry, Ron, and Hermione on their adventures.

Where would your ideal place be to practice yoga?
Anywhere with an AC and a class of fellow like-minded people.

What would be your favorite piece of music to practice yoga to?
For a relaxing practice I like a Spotify playlist called “Yoga Harmony” and for something more energized, “MC Yogi” is really fun!
